Dear Memorial School Community:
I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself and thank everyone who has so warmly welcomed me to the North Haledon Community. For those of you who I have yet to meet, I look forward to getting to know and work with you in the coming months. In a very short time, I have come to realize what a wonderful and caring community North Haledon is. I am extremely excited to join such a positive team of educators, parents and student-body. My goal as an educator is to work collaboratively with the teachers, my fellow administrators and the Board of Education to promote the most caring and comprehensive educational setting for Memorial School students.
I began my teaching career with the Ramsey Public School District after graduating from Rutgers College. Beginning as an instructional assistant to students with special needs, I went on to become a 4th and 5th grade classroom teacher. Appointed as Teacher-In-Charge of an elementary school with over 400 students, my experiences with the students and staff in the Ramsey Public Schools provided me with a great educational leadership foundation upon which to draw for this position within Memorial School. As an educator, I had worked to become a mentor to children in various settings; from the classroom, to the playing fields as the Head Varsity Soccer Coach of the Ramsey High School Boys’ Team, to the auditorium, where I worked with the production of the elementary school musical, I always strived to provide children with the greatest educational opportunities possible. From an administrative standpoint, I have been fortunate enough to lead and conduct various professional development projects for teachers, which in turn, have led to my growth as an educator as well.
After receiving a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Montclair State University, I became an Assistant Principal at the Haskell Elementary School with the Wanaque Public Schools. As I enter into this next chapter of my educational career, I look forward to learning from, and working with Ms. Cardiello and my fellow administrators so I can maintain and enhance the excellence of learning that has been established within the North Haledon Public Schools.
I want to thank all of you for providing me with the wonderful opportunity and the distinct honor of working with your children at the Memorial Elementary School. My door is always open, and I look forward to working with you to make this a most memorable and successful school year.
Sincerely,
Mr. Matthew K. Wilson
Principal
Memorial Elementary School
