Welcome to the North Haledon Public School District. The North Haledon School District is located in Passaic County, N.J. approximately twenty four miles west of New York City. The district is governed by a nine-member, elected Board of Education. The district serves approximately 686 pupils who are enrolled in Preschool through Grade Eight and it consists of two (2) school buildings. Memorial Elementary School serves students who attend Preschool through Grade Four and High Mountain Middle School serves students who attend Grades Five through Eight. The North Haledon School District offers a safe, student-centered atmosphere with an excellent curriculum and many student services.
The Board, Administration, and Faculty of North Haledon School District are committed to providing a challenging educational program that addresses the individual needs of all students in a nurturing learning environment. The faculty at both Memorial and High Mountain School take advantage of many professional development opportunities, including workshops, seminars, conferences and graduate courses. They consistently seek new strategies and instructional methodology that will enable them to effectively meet the unique individual needs of the students in the District.
On September 27, 2005, the residents of the North Haledon community approved a referendum to improve the physical make up of the District’s school buildings. The process of building a new elementary school and the addition and renovations at the middle school began during the fall of 2006. The improvements are a direct result of the Board of Education’s desire to provide an updated safe and comfortable learning environment for the children and staff while being mindful that our school buildings are an asset to the community.
The North Haledon School District provides a positive and nurturing learning environment. We are extremely proud of our students, staff and community. Our success is a direct result of the collaborative efforts of students, staff and parents working together. Both our Parent Teacher Organization and the Education Foundation play a vital role in the success of the school district. We are extremely fortunate to have a very supportive community.
